Increasingly, the trend in the ammonia world is to minimize the ammonia content. Under optimal conditions, 20 grams of ammonia per kW cooling capacity will suffice.

This provides three benefits:
– The safety risks are significantly reduced with lower ammonia quantities.
– This reduces the costs for safety provisions.
– Ammonia will be used in places where this was not possible for safety and capacity reasons (offices, supermarkets, shopping centres).

The NH3 units from SCM Ref are designed for low ammonia content. As a result, they can be used efficiently in environments that could not be provided with NH3 applications until recently, due to the safety aspect. Large residential / apartment buildings are now eligible to implement this favorable and smart technology.
